Description: Chemistry is a semester long class where students study the composition of the physical world. Students learn about matter and its interactions. They also learn lab skills around safe handling of chemicals, conducting experiments to explore their world and how to analyze data. Projects students work on are creating a rocket using hydrogen and oxygen gas and using chemistry to identify heavy metal contaminants in water supplies. Major topics include structure of the atom, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, acids and bases and solutions chemistry.
